Sultanate of Aceh Dar As-Salam (1490-1903)
- 1490-1497 : Sultan Munawar Shah
- Sultan Munawar Shah ibnu al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Ala ud-din 'Inayat Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Became the first Raja Mahkota 'Alam in 1490. Conquered the neighbouring kingdom of Dar ul-Kamal, after the death of his elder brother, and established himself as the first Sultan of Aceh Dar As-Salam.
- 1497-1511, Sultan of Aceh Kesebelas : Sultan Shams ud-din Shah
- Sultan Shams ud-din Shah ibnu al-Marhum Sultan Munawar Shah, Sultan of Aceh Kesebelas. Succeeded on the death of his father as Sultan of Aceh Kesebelas, 1497. Abdicated in favour of his eldest son, 1511.
- 1511-1530 : Sultan 'Ali I Mughayat Shah, alias Raja Ibrahim
- Paduka Sri Sultan 'Ali (I) Mughayat Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam, alias Raja Ibrahim. Conquered Daya, Pidie, Pasai and Aru. Assumed the title of Sultan and name of Ali Mughayat Shah, 1514. He died 16th August 1530.
- 1530-1539 : Sultan Saleh ad-Din
- Paduka Sri Sultan Saleh ud-din, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Deposed by his younger brother 1539.
- 1539-1571 : Sultan Ala ad-Din Riayat Shah al-Qahhar
- Paduka Sri Sultan 'Ala ud-din (I) Ri'ayat Shah al-Kahhar, Sultan of Aceh Dar As-Salam, Barus, Pedir, Pasai, Daya ad Batak, Amir of the two seas and of the mines of Minangkabau. Succeeded on the deposition of his elder brother, 1539. Died 8th October 1571.
- 1571-1579 : Sultan Hussein 'Ali Ri'ayat Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultan Husain 'Ali Ri'ayat Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Defeated and expelled the Raja Mudas of Pidie and Aru, and seized the throne, 1571. Died 17th June 1579.
- 1579 : Sultan Muda
- Succeeded on the death of his father, as a minor, 17th June 1579. He was killed by agents of his uncle, September 1579.
- 1579 : Sultan Mukmin Sri 'Alam Firman Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultan Mukmin Sri 'Alam Firman Shah ibnu al-Marhum Sultan 'Ala ud-din (I) Ri'ayat Shah al-Kahhar, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Abangta Raja of Periaman under the reign title of Sultan Mughal before his accession. Succeeded as Sultan of Aceh after the murder of his nephew, September 1579. He was killed 1579.
- 1579 : Sultan Zain al-'Abidin al-Ja-kahhar Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultan Zain al-'Abidin al-Ja-kahhar Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Son of Sultan Abdullah ibnu al-Marhum Sultan 'Ala ud-din (I) Ri'ayat Shah al-Kahhar, Raja Muda of Aru. He was killed 14th October 1579.
- 1580-1585 --- : Sultan 'Ala ad-Din Mansur Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultan 'Ala ud-din Mansur Shah bin Raja Ahmad, Sultan of Aceh. Son of Raja Ahmed ibnu al-Marhum Sultan Muzaffar Shah I of Perak. Ascended, 30th March 1577. m. 'Abd al-Khana, 'the Queen of Aceh'. m. Putri di-Raja Ratnavamsa Paduka Shah 'Alam [Ratna Wangsa], elder daughter of Paduka Sri Sultan 'Ala ud-din Ri'ayat Shah 'Alam Sayyid al-Mukammil ibnu al-Marhum Sultan al-Malik Firman Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar As-Salam. He was killed at Bandar Aceh, 12th January 1585.
- 1585-1589 --- : Sultan Ala ad-Din Ri'ayat Shah ibn Munawar Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultan 'Ala ud-din Ri'ayat Shah ibnu Sultan Munawar Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Raja Mahkota Bujang, who succeeded on the death of his maternal grandfather, 12th January 1585, as Paduka Sri Sultan 'Ala ud-din Ri'ayat Shah, Sultan of Aceh. (His father was Sultan Munawar Shah ibnu al-Marhum Sultan Ahmad Shah, Raja Muda of Indrapura.) He was killed at Aceh, 28th June 1589.
- 1589-1604 --- : Sultan Ala ad-Din Ri'ayat Shah ibn Firman Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultan 'Ala ud-din Ri'ayat Shah 'Alam Sayyid al-Mukammil ibnu al-Marhum Sultan al-Malik Firman Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Deposed in favour of his eldest surviving son, April 1604.
- 1604-1607 : Sultan 'Ali Mughayat II Ri'ayat Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultan 'Ali Mughayat II Ri'ayat Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Appointed as Heir apparent by his father, with the title of Sultan Firman Shah, Sultan Muda of Pidie, 1601. Succeeded on the deposing of his father as Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam, April 1604. Died 4th April 1607.
- 1607-1636 --- : Sultan Iskandar Muda
- Paduka Sri Sultan Iskandar Muda Mahkota Perkasa 'Alam Shah Johan Berdaulat Zain al-Abidin ibnu al-Marhum Sultan Mansur Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Attacked and conquered Kedah in 1620, sacked Johore in 1623, and subdued Indrapura in 1633. Died 27th December 1636.
- 1636-1641 : Sultan Iskandar Thani 'Ala ad-Din Mughayat Shah,
- Paduka Sri Sultan Iskandar Thani 'Ala ud-din Mughayat Shah Johan Berdaulat Zillu'llahi fi'l-'Alam ibnu al-Marhum Sultan Ahmad Shah, Sultan of Aceh, alias Raja Mughal. Son of Sultan Ahmad Shah II bin al-Marhum Sultan 'Abdu'l-Kadir 'Ala ud-din Shah, Sultan of Pahang, by his wife Putri Bongsu Chandradevi, daughter of Raja Kasab of Siak. Adopted by Sultan Iskandar Muda. Succeeded on the death of his adopted father and father-in-law, 1636. He d.s.p. at Bandar Aceh, 15th February 1641 (succeded by his widow and adoptive sister).
- 1641-1675 : Sultana Taj al-Alam Safiat ad-Din Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultana Ratu Safiat ud-din Taj ul-'Alam Shah Johan Berdaulat Zillu'llahi fi'l-'Alam binti al-Marhum Sri Sultan Iskandar Muda Mahkota Alam Shah, Sultana of Aceh. Installed on the death of her husband, 15th February 1641. She lost Pahang to Johor soon after her accession. She d.s.p. at Bandar Aceh, 23rd October 1675.
- 1675-1677 --- : Sultana Nur al-Alam Naqiat ad-Din Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultana Naqiat ud-din Nur ul-'Alam Shah, Sultana of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Daughter of Raja Mahmud Radhiah bint al-Marhum Sultan 'Ali Mughayat II Ri'ayat Shah. Succeeded 23rd October 1675. Died 22nd November 1677.
- 1678-1688 --- : Sultana Zakiat ad-Din Inayat Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultana Zaqiyat ud-din 'Inayat Shah binti al-Marhum Raja Mahmud Shah, Sultana of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Daughter of Raja Mahmud Shah bin Raja Sulaiman Shah. Installed 23rd January 1678. Died 3rd October 1688.
- 1688-1699 --- : Sultana Zinat ad-Din Kamalat Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultana Zinat ud-din Kamalat Shah binti al-Marhum Raja Umar, Sultana of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Daughter of Raja Umar bin Sultan Muda Muhammad Muhi ud-din. Deposed on the grounds that Islam forbade women from ruling, October 1699.
- 1699-1702 : Sultan Badr al-Alam Sharif Hasjim Djamal ad-Din
- Paduka Sri Sultan Badr ul'Alam Sayyid Ibrahim Habib Jamal ud-din Sharif Hashim Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Son of Sayyid Hashim bin Sayyid Abu Bakar. Succeeded on the deposition of his wife, October 1699. Deposed by the ulubalang, 15th February 1702.
- 1702-1703 --- : Sultan Perkasa Alam Sharif Lamtui
- Paduka Sri Sultan Perkasa Alam Sharif Lamtawi, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam.
- 1703-1726 : Sultan Jamal al-Alam Badr al-Munir
- Paduka Sri Sultan Jamal ul-'Alam Badr ul-Munir fil'-Alam Habib 'Abdu'llah Sharif Hashim Shah ibnu al-Marhum Sultan Jamal ul-'Alam Badr ul-Munir fil'-Alam Sharif Hashim Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Elected by the ulubalang after they had deposed Sultan Perkasa 'Alam Sharif Lam Tampawi, June 1703. Installed August 1703. Deposed November 1726.
- 1726 : Sultan Johar ul-'Alam Amin ad-Din
- Paduka Sri Sultan Johar ul-'Alam Amin ud-din, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Elected and installed by the ulubalang, November 1726. Reigned for 20 days and was deposed in favour of Shams ul-'Alam, December 1726.
- 1726-1727 : Sultan Undei Tebang Shams ul-'Alam
- Paduka Sri Sultan Undei Tebang Shams ul-'Alam, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Installed by the ulubalang, December 1726 but only allowed to reign for a few days before being deposed, January 1727.
- 1727-1735 --- : Sultan Ala ad-Din Ahmad Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultan 'Ala ud-din Ahmad Shah Johan Badr Berdaulat, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Son of 'Abdu'r-Rahman bin Zain al-Abidin, and husband of Paduka Sri Sultana Naqiat ud-din Nur ul-'Alam Shah. Adopted the title of Sultan 'Ala ud-din Ahmad Shah on being elevated to the throne, 1727. Died 1735.
- 1735-1760 : Sultan Ala ad-Din Djohan Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultan 'Ala ud-din Jahan Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1735. Killed in battle, 1760.
- 1760-1764 : Sultan 'Ala ad-Din Mahmud Shah I, 1st period
- Paduka Sri Sultan 'Ala ud-din Mahmud Shah I, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam, 1st period. Deposed by Maharaja Lebri and expelled from the capital, 1764.
- 1764-1765 : Sultan Badr ad-Din Johan Alam Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultan Badr ud-din Johan Alam Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Former the Maharaja Lebri, an official of Royal Siak descent. Seized the throne and expelled Sultan Mahmud Shah from the capital, 1764. Killed in a rebellion led by the Panglima Sagi, 1765.
- 1765-1773 : Sultan 'Ala ad-Din Mahmud Shah I, 2nd period
- Paduka Sri Sultan 'Ala ud-din Mahmud Shah I, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam, 2nd period. Restored on after the death of Paduka Sri Sultan Badr ud-din Johan Alam Shah, 1765.
- 1773 : Sultan Sulaiman Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultan Sulaiman Shah (Udana Lela), Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam.
- 1773-1781 : Sultan 'Ala ad-Din Mahmud Shah I, 3rd period
- Paduka Sri Sultan 'Ala ud-din Mahmud Shah I, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam, 3rd period. Died June 1781.
- 1781-1795 : Sultan 'Ala ad-Din Muhammad Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultan Berdaulat Zillu'llahi fi'l-'Alam 'Ala ud-din Muhammad Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Succeeded on the death of his father,16th June 1781. Died February 1795.
- 1795-1815 : Sultan 'Ala ad-Din Jauhar ul-'Alam Shah, 1st period
- Paduka Sri Sultan Berdaulat Zillu'llahi fi'l-'Alam 'Ala ud-din Jauhar ul-'Alam Shah bin 'Ala ud-din Muhammad Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam, 1st period. Succeeded on the death of his father, February 1795. Reigned under the regency of his maternal uncle until he was able to depose him, 1805. Deposed April 1815.
- 1815 : Sultan Saiyid Hussein Aidid
- Paduka Sri Sultan Berdaulat Zillu'llahi fi'l-'Alam Saiyid Hussein Aidid, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Elected on the deposition of Sultan 'Ala ud-din Jauhar ul-'Alam, April 1815. Installed at Bandar Aceh, August 1815. Abdicated in favour of his eldest son, three days later.
- 1815-1819 : Sultan Saiyid Sharif Saif al-'Alam Shah Jamalullail
- Paduka Sri Sultan Berdaulat Zillu'llahi fi'l-'Alam Saiyid Sharif Saif ul-'Alam Shah Jamalullail, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Borne as Syed Hussein Aidid, a grandson of Sultan Jemal ul-'Alam. Succeeded on the abdication of his father, August 1815. Installed at Bandar Aceh, 16th November 1815. Retired to Penang in 1819 following an agreement brokered by the British, whereby Sultan Jauhar ul'Alam was restored, 22nd April 1819.
- 1819-1823 : Sultan 'Ala ad-Din Jauhar al-'Alam Shah, 2nd period
- Sri Sultan Berdaulat Zillu'llahi fi'l-'Alam 'Ala ud-din Jauhar ul-'Alam Shah bin 'Ala ud-din Muhammad Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Restored by the British, 22nd April 1819. Died 1st December 1823.
- 1823-1838 : Sultan 'Ala ad-Din Muhammad Daud Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultan Berdaulat Zillu'llahi fi'l-'Alam 'Ala ud-din Muhammad Daud Shah bin 'Ala ud-din Jauhar ul-'Alam Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Seized the throne on the death of his father, 1st December 1823. Died 1838.
- 1838-1857 : Sultan 'Ala ad-Din Sulaiman 'Ali Iskandar Sulaiman Shah
- Paduka Sri Sultan Berdaulat Zillu'llahi fi'l-'Alam 'Ala ud-din Sulaiman 'Ali Iskandar Sulaiman Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1838. Reigned under the regency of his uncle, later Sultan Muhammad 'Ali Ibrahim. Came of age and assumed full ruling powers, 1850. Died 1857.
- 1857-1870 : Sultan 'Ala ad-Din Muhammad 'Ali Ibrahim Mansur Shah II
- Paduka Sri Sultan Berdaulat Zillu'llahi fi'l-'Alam 'Ala ud-din Muhammad 'Ali Ibrahim Mansur Shah II bin 'Ala ud-din Jauhar ul-'Alam Shah, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Succeeded on the death of his nephew, 1857. He died June 1870.
- 1870-1874 : Sultan 'Ala ad-Din Mahmud Shah III
- Paduka Sri Sultan Berdaulat Zillu'llahi fi'l-'Alam 'Ala ud-din Mahmud Shah III bin Sulaiman, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Succeeded on the death of his uncle, July 1870. Installed November 1870. Reigned under the Regency of his step-father, Sayyid 'Abdu'l Rahman bin Muhammad uz-Zahir, Teuku Maharaja Mangkubumi. Fled into the jungles and carried on a guerilla operation against the invading Dutch forces, October 1873. He d.s.p. from cholera 28th January 1874.
- 1874-1903 : Sultan 'Ala ad-Din Muhammad Daud Shah Jahan
- Paduka Sri Sultan Berdaulat Zillu'llahi fi'l-'Alam 'Ala ud-din Muhammad Daud Shah Jahan, Sultan of Aceh Dar us-Salam. Borne 1864, son of Tuanku Zain al-Abidin ibnu al-Marhum Sri Sultan Muhammad 'Ali Ibrahim Mansur Shah, Pangeran Anum. Elected by the ulubalang, in disregard of Dutch policy, 7th February 1874. Installed at Indrapuri Mosque, 28th February 1874. He carried on the struggle against the Dutch in the interior of the country 1874-1903. Surrendered and renounced his claims to the throne, September 1903.
